He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonzie Spires and Myrtis Chavis Spires; and his siblings, Cammie Chavis Carrigg, Evelyn Chavis Beason, Margaret Chavis Hoover, Wilhelmina Chavis Stevenson and Legree Chavis. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
