She was predeceased by: her parents, Lucius Lee McSwain and Agnes McSwain Wallace; her daughter Agnes P. Beckham; and her brother John J. McSwain (Julia Faye Boozer). She is survived by: her stepfather Haskell Neel Wallace; and her children, Sally P. Wallace of Newberry and James D. Pritchard, Jr. of Grapevine, Texas.. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12, great-grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

“My name is Ken Swygert,I was Miss Carrie's letter carrier for the past 9 years.I remember fondley the first day I delivered to her.Her mailbox was on her house so I dismounted and was going to the mailbox when she open the door.We introduced ourself and that is when she uttered her most famous words she spoke to me,that I will never ever forget,"would you like anything to eat drink smoke or chew".I just laughed and said no ma'am is there anything I can get for you..starting a great friendship”
