He was predeceased by: his parents, James P. Yates and Ernestine Barwick Yates. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Carol Yates; his daughter Erin P. Yates of Charleston, SC; and his sisters, Dianne Y. Jennings (Harold) of Reidsville, NC and Elaine Yates of Sumter, SC.
