He was predeceased by: his parents, Pierce Young and Catherine Martin Briggs; and his brother John Robert "Johnny" Briggs. He is survived by: his sons, James Kevin Briggs (Erin) of Columbia and Martin Gresham Briggs (Molly) of Charleston; his grandchildren, Winstin Briggs and Austin Rowland; and his pets, Ginger Caramel Briggs, Bailey Briggs and Berkeley Briggs.
