He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Lou Bates; his parents, Levins Ray, Sr. and Edna Kaney Bates; his children, James Bates, Jr. (Ashley Hawks) and Teresa Powers (Scott); his grandchildren, Jamie, Jacqueline Bates and Taylor Powers; his great grandchildren, Kaylie, Alex and Caroline; and his siblings, Levins Ray Bates, Jr., Gary, Tommy Bates (Janet) and Gail Baker (Frank).
There is no planned service at this time due to COVID, but we will schedule a memorial service in the near future.
