He was predeceased by: his spouse Ruth Jaillette Saunders; and his sisters, Vivian Saunders and Jeanette Vaughn. He is survived by: his parents, Homer Vardell Saunders and Lessie Parker Saunders; his children, Ruth P. Saunders (Brent Hutto) of Columbia, William H. Saunders Jr. (Patricia) of Walterboro and Russell S. Potts (Raymond) of Stokes; his sister Betty Saunders Hydrick; his granddaughters, Jennifer Berry, Katie Bunton, Rebecca, Miranda and Crystal Saunders; his great grandchildren, Luke Bunton, Blake Berry and Mason Berry; and his friend Alva Gadson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home.
