He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Smoak and Pearl O'Quinn Smoak; and his siblings, William Horace Smoak and Miriam Lavon Rogers. He is survived by: his wife Jackie Murdaugh Smoak; his sons, Josh Wendell "Jody" Smoak Jr. (Michelle) of Taylors and Brandon Jack "B. J."; his grandson Brandon Fripp Smoak; his siblings, Ralph Alex Smoak (Sandy), John Alton Smoak (Susan), Kenneth Ellison Smoak (Claire), Mary Jane Porter, Ruby Pearl Minter (Mike) and Janet Hilda Smoak; and his siblings-in-law, O. D. Murdaugh Jr. (Kathy) and Betty Causey. He is also survived by extended family, cousins, nieces and nephews.
