He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrick Simmons, Sr. and Sadie Simmons; and his son Randy Simmons. He is survived by: his children, Vernon Simmons, Jr., William E. Simmons, Henry A. Simmons (Pamela), Wanda Dunn (Wayne) and Tammy Williams; his siblings, Merrick Simmons, Jr. and Lillie Mae; and his uncle Lurtis Simmons. He is also survived by cousins and nieces other relatives and friends.
