He was predeceased by: his parents, Tuter Evans and Hallie Valentine Evans; his former wife Mary Armentrout Evans; his daughter Barbara J. Wixson; and his siblings, Minnie Lou Evans, Chesley Evans, Adell Evans, Johnny Evans, Clyde Evans and Ben Evans.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Wells Evans; his children, Kevin Evans (Tammy) of Walterboro, Brian Evans of Walterboro, Gary Evans (Melissa) of Walterboro and Martie Hooker (Erwin) of Walterboro; his sisters-in-law, Frankie Jo Evans and Ellen Wells Chambers; his grandchildren, Nicole Burroughs (Jonathan), Shannon Pruitt Amanda (Cody) and Abby Evans; and his great grandchildren, Jackson, Norah, Josie, Madelyn and Ellie.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 25th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes and Crematory, Walterboro Chapel (1193 Bells Hwy, Walterboro, SC 29488). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (7345 Jefferies Hwy, Walterboro, SC 29488).
