He is survived by: his wife Joan Girardeau (Smith); his children, Gerry Girardeau (Anabel), Vickie Culpepper (Eric) and Sheldon Girardeau, Jr.; his brother Ted Girardeau (Bet); and his brother-in-law Bill Smith. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 403 Church Street, Walterboro, SC 29488.
