It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rose C. Grant of Walterboro, South Carolina, who passed away on August 5, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Franklin Chestnut, Sr. and Ethel Burns Chestnut; her husband Eddie Grant, Sr.; her daughter-in-law Mary Grant; and her brothers, Akbar B. Muhammad and Bobby Brown (Julia) of New York.
She is survived by: her children, Lola Mildred Crawford, Johnnie West Berry (Eva), Joe Edward (Phyllis), Arthur (Ann), Phillip Bernard, Jeff and Ricky (Fannie); her stepson Willie James Rivers (Celia); and her sisters, Mary Francis, Margie, Mary Ann and Nettie Mae Bryant of Yalaha, Florida.
