He was predeceased by: his mother Millie Crosby Avant; his grandparents, Lawrence, Vernell Craven, C. D. "Jim" and Tula Avant; his sister Carla Avant Reeves; his nephews, Justin Reeves and Bradley McDonald; and the mother of his children Margaret Avant.
He is survived by: his father Robert Neal Avant Sr.; his children, Robert Neal Avant III (Allie Shuman) and Amber Shae Avant (Austin Moore); his sisters, Donna Miller (Terry) of Walterboro, Rhonda McDonald (Larry) of Walterboro and Mary Jo Fox of Walterboro; and his nieces and nephews, Shannon, Jason Hiers, Christopher, Dean, Bryan, Shane McDonald, Joey, Jake Fox, Taylor Fox Murdaugh and Tommy Reeves III.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 at the funeral home, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS), 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
