He was predeceased by: his wife Millie Jean Crosby Avant; his parents, C. D. "Jim" Avant and Tula Butler Avant; his children, Carla Avant Reeves and Robert Neal "Bubba" Avant Jr.; his grandsons, Justin Reeves and Robert Bradley McDonald; his great grandchild Karli Kiersin Reeves; and his siblings, Carl Avant and Polly DeWitt.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Avant Miller (Terry), Rhonda Avant McDonald (Larry) and Mary Jo Fox; his siblings, Jimmy Avant (Jennie), Don Avant (Karen) and Peggy White; and his sister-in-law Elaine Avant. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
