It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Myrtle Spires Gibson (Walterboro, South Carolina), who passed away on June 7, 2018, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her spouse Roy Newton Gibson; her parents, Robert Lonnie Spires and Geneva Sharpe Spires; and her children, Sherry Gibson Polk and Ronnie Newton Gibson.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Cindy Gibson Robinson (Kevin) of Rincon, Kipp Polk of Islandton, Rodney Allen Gibson (Debora) of Clyo and Gabriel Polk (Raven) of Cummings; and her son-in-law Carroll Polk of Islandton.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Rice Patch Christian Church Building Fund, care of Mr. Lavern Polk, 1865 Ashton Road, Islandton, South Carolina 29929.
