He is survived by: his mother Elise Walker of Walterboro; his wife Patricia Mincey Butterfield; his children, Yolanda Hall of Panama City, Louis Butterfield, Jr. of Panama City, Terrence Butterfield of Mississippi and Tiffany Butterfield of Dothan, Alabama; his grandchildren, Rashawn Burgess, Akeelah Hall, Ikeim Butterfield, Jacquez Butterfield, Jemeri Butterfield, Azeria Judkins and Ahmir Judkins; his siblings, Mary Ann Walker Edwards (Larry) of Walterboro, Tracy Walker of Walterboro and Willie Butterfield; his uncle John Dowling of Orangeburg; his aunts, Annette Clowney of Orangeburg, Marvenie Denmark of Jacksonville and Jean Legree of Bamberg; his great-aunts, Eddie Mae Jones and Annie Jones of Bamberg; and his siblings-in-law, Estis Mincey, Jr. of Walterboro, Norman Mincey of Walterboro and Alice Legree of Brooklyn. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Home Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p. m. - 7:00 p. m. (THOSE ATTENDING GRAVESIDE SERVICE ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACIAL MASK, AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE ENFORCED.) Louis was educated in the Colleton County School District.
