He was predeceased by: his mother Anna Mae Woolum Rumfelt; and his sister Rebecca "Becky" Kiser. He is survived by: his father James Edward Rumfelt; his sons, James D. Rumfelt (Hannah) of Beaufort and Joseph "Joey" Dean Rumfelt II of Walterboro; his grandchildren, Owen, Brom, Anderson, Finnley and Layla McCranie; his brother Michael Rumfelt of Walterboro; and his great-aunt Betty Shepard. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
