He was predeceased by: his parents, James William Cavanaugh, Sr. and Gladys Norman Cavanaugh; his sister Brenda Siffert; and his nephew Joey Siffert. He is survived by: his wife Susan Satterfield Cavanaugh; his children, Donna Cavanaugh Craven (Johnny) of Walterboro, James William "Bill" Cavanaugh, III (Holly) of Walterboro and Jason Wayne Cavanaugh (Elizabeth) of Walterboro; his grandchildren, Sarah Craven, Shelby Craven, James William "Miles" Cavanaugh, IV and Lily Cavanaugh; his great grandchild Kate Emerson Davis; and his cousins, Butch Norman and Bobby Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to the following: Walterboro Church of God of Prophecy, 114 Peurifoy Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, The American Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
