He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy T. Herndon and Corrie Mae Carter Herndon; and his siblings, Harry W. Herndon, Brice W. Herndon, Sue Herndon, Mae Herndon Jones, Rachael Herndon Jones and Vivian Herndon Wurster.
He is survived by: his wife Eugenia Jones Herndon; his children, Jackie LeGrand Herndon, Jr. (Glenda) of Walterboro, Michael Anthony Herndon of Walterboro, Sandra Herndon Roberts (Charles), Jennifer "Jenny" Herndon Coste and Catherine "Cathy" Lynn Herndon; and his sister Shirley Baker of Sumter. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
