He was predeceased by: his parents, Ealon Thompson and Odine Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Hammett Thompson; his daughters, Amanda Thompson Segura (Matt) of Summerville and Crystal Thompson Murdaugh of Walterboro; and his siblings, Ealon Thompson Jr. (Ann) of Greenville, SC, Barry Thompson (Kathy) of Bowman, SC, AlvaDean Cartin (Lavern) of Adams Run, SC and Janice Kinard of Walterboro, SC. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ernie's name may be made to North Walterboro Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Hwy, Walterboro, SC 29488.
