He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Brown and Lezzie Brown; his siblings, Vernell Harris and Queen Ester Brown; his children, Johnny Brown, Ernest Brown (Ellen), Shelia Bell, Rhonda Mitchell, Tarosa Brown and Sheldon Brown; his brothers-in-law, Robert Ackerman and Oscar Ackerman (Sharleen); and also Shirley T. Ackerman Brown.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Ackerman.
