Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Betty Black of Walterboro, South Carolina, who passed away at the age of 93, on February 18, 2021. She was predeceased by: her parents, Sheriff Lucas Carroll Padgett and Coralie Ackerman Padgett; her friend Anna Lou Marvin; her husband John Tarrant Black; and her siblings, Lucas C. Padgett, Lena Coralie Padgett and Nancy Padgett Bergmark.
She is survived by: her friends, B's, Betty Marvin Linder and Bettyline Pope Moylan; her children, Carol Padgett Black of Alexandria, Virginia and John Tarrant Black, Jr. (Denise) of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren, Eva, Will (Shannon) and Gordon (Ellison); her children, Nancy Black Skardon (Taylor) of Charleston, Elizabeth, Frances and James Benjamin Black II (Trish) of Mt. Pleasant; and also, Beneva Black Ouzts of Columbia, Bernice Perry, Cherie Van Dyke, Gladiola Holmes, Thelma Stephens, Jeannette Smith, Connie Johnson and Iola Allen. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews, and many cousins.
Due to COVID restrictions, the family will receive guests on the front lawn of Bethel Presbyterian Church from 1:00-2:45PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 before attending a private funeral service at 3PM which will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.
