He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lawrence Starling, Sr. and Georgia Lois Elam Starling; and his brother Richard "Buddy" Starling. He is survived by: his children, Michael L. Starling, Jr. of Gastonia, NC, Bryan L. Starling of Gastonia, NC, Josh Watkins of Charlotte, NC, April M. Starling of Belmont, NC, Christina Casal of Dallas, NC and Tonya Watkins of Gastonia, NC; his siblings, William "Bill" L. Starling, Jr. (Millie), Ted Starling (Linda), Brent Starling (Teresa), Terri Helms (Roger), Denise Clinkscales (Timmy) and Fran Bingham; and his sister-in-law Diane Starling. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
