He was predeceased by: his parents, Olin Hendrix and Mildred Sheppard Hendrix; his wife Violet Stiff Hendrix; and his brother Billy Olin Hendrix. He is survived by: his son Michael Dwain Hendrix (Megan); his stepson Gregory Smith of Pearisburg; and his grandchildren, Emily Violet Hendrix, Jessie Leigh Hendrix, James "Wyatt" Hendrix and Waylon "Jase" Hendrix. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made in his honor or to the Cancer Clinic of the Upstate.
