He was predeceased by: his wife Ruthie Bell of Walhalla; his parents, Clarence Bell and Anna Marie Shunk Bell; and his brothers, Chuck and Bill Bell.

He is survived by: his children, Paul Butler, Renee Stamey (Mark), Toni Smathers (Jamie) and Ken Butler (Holly); and his sister Goldie Mistak (John). He is also survived by twelve grandkids.
