He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Willie Deal Holcombe; his grandson Shawn Holcombe; and his siblings, Roy Holcombe, Bill Holcombe and June Martin.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Johnson Holcombe of Walhalla; his children, Douglas R. Holcombe, Jr., Debbie H. Smith (Mike) and Teresa H. Burton (Bryan); his grandchildren, Sebastian Holcombe, Devin Holcombe, Talitha Holcombe, Casey Reid, Tyler Smith and Haley Burton; and his great grandchildren, Colton Reid, Caroline Reid, Charlotte Reid, TJ Holcombe, Avery Holcombe and Emme Smith.
