He was predeceased by: his parents, Garnett Charles Martin and Minnie Belle O'Kelley Martin; his brothers, Alfred Martin, Robert Martin and Garnett Martin; and his former wife Eva Blackwell Martin.

He is survived by: his children, Douglas Martin (Lisa), Lori Young (Earl), Keith Martin, Melissa Pressley (David), Grace Workman (Mark) and Samuel Martin; his grandchildren, Jennifer Mitchell, LeAnn Schmuck (Trey), Emily Bethea (Tyler), Ryan Martin, John Pressley (Sarah), Hannah Bass (Ben) and Margret Workman; and his siblings, Kenneth Martin, Michael Martin, Judy Crowe, Sandra Whitt and Christine Bolt Martin. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
