He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucielle Landy and Ernest Lee Staley; his grandparents, Robert and Minnie Landy; his siblings, James Williams (Mattie), Leroy Williams (Salley Mae), Matthew Landy, Walter Williams, Authur Staley, Louis Staley and Louise McCollough; his sons, Melvin Phillips of Columbia and Malcolm Williams of Chapel Hill; his friend Diane Thompson; and his grandson C. J. Thompson.
He is survived by: his siblings, Deloris Salley of Wagener, Eartha Lee Robinson of Wagener, Rosetta Brown of Wagener, Patricia Ann Jackson of Wagener, Burnette Peterson (Henry) of Wagener, Lucinda Landy of Columbia, SC, Lavenia Sarpong (William) of Columbia, SC, Wanda Tyler, Jasper Williams (Retha Mae), Chester Williams (Patricia) of Wagener and Willie Ray Williams of Salley; and his brothers-in-law, Bobby Neal Salley (Deloris), Raymon Lee Brown (Rosetta) and Fulmond Jackson (Patricia Ann). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends.
Viewing was held on Sunday, November 10th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the J. H. Robinson Funeral Home of Wagener (190 Railroad Ave E, Wagener, SC 29164). A celebration of life was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Chalk Hill Baptist Church (3419 New Holland Rd, Wagener, SC 29164).
