He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Williamson Starnes; his parents, Julian Paul Starnes and Docia Nancy Williams Starnes; and his sibling J. B. Starnes. He is survived by: his children, Johnny Ray Starnes (Beverly), Nancy S. Roberson (Steve) and Wanda Faye S. Smith (Stanley); his grandchildren, Brent Starnes (Halie), Orrie Carver (Megan), Christy Burkett (Chuck), Mallary Roberson, Daryl Smith (Caitlin) and Lacey Smith; his great grandchildren, Tucker Carver, Jordan Burkett, Chance Burkett and Avery Burkett; and his siblings, Marlene Hill, Evelyn Collum, Theodore Starnes, Richard Starnes and Harold Starnes.
