He is survived by: his wife Frances Inez Simmons; his children, Linda L. Barron, Donna Johnson (Doug), Christal Chisolm (Sylvester), Christopher Herbie Simmons, Sandra Mack (David) and Phillip Simmons; and his siblings, Earl Simmons, Ruth Hall, Ida Singleton, Viola Jenkins and Nellie Boykin. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
