She was predeceased by: her husband Billy Wayne Merritt, Sr.; her parents, Ned Smoak and Shirley Smith Smoak; and her siblings, Grace Smoak, Kathleen Cook, Ruby Wright, Patricia Hyneman, Bennie Smoak and Dan Smoak.
She is survived by: her son Billy Wayne Merritt, Jr. of Yemassee; and her sisters, Geraldine Mobley of Hampton and Bootsie Wood of Orangeburg. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
