He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Jefferson Childers and Ann Dale Phillips Childers; and his siblings, Clarence Childers, Tom Childers, Kenneth Thomas, Lawrence Thomas, Charles Thomas, Lillie Pickens, Inelle Bolin and Wilma Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Cook Childers; his daughters, Kelly Shumaker (Shawn) and Kim Foster (Richie); his grandson Cole Shumaker (Carlene); and his siblings, Samuel "Smoke" Childers (Harriett) and Gale Propst.
