She was predeceased by: her parents, James Thompson and Estelle Thompson; and her brothers, Harold Thompson and Jim "Bay" Thompson. She is survived by: her daughter Sharonda Edwards; her grandchildren, Sharmari Edwards and Lonnie Edwards; her siblings, Tommy Hill of Union, SC, Maxine Dunlap (Leroy) of Union, SC and Ruth Norman Carter of Baltimore, MD; and her siblings-in-law, Clyde Edwards, Charles Edwards (Hattie), Robert Edwards (Josephine), Reverend Johnnie Edwards (Clista) and Joyce Derrick (Charles) of Carlisle, SC. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
