She was predeceased by: her parents, Wiley Arthur McElveen and Ila Mae Welch McElveen; her sister Laurice M. Feagin; her brothers-in-law, Billy Feagin and Cecil Atkinson; her niece Traci Ham Coffey; and her nephew Quentin Coker.
She is survived by: her husband Ellis Lamar Thigpen; her children, Holly Salmon (Michael) of LaGrange, NC, Hope Thigpen, Christopher Thigpen and Sara Thigpen; her grandchildren, Emily Couvillion (Chase), Megan Smith (Mitchel) of Salisbury, NC and Nicholas Salmon of Winterville, NC; her great grandchildren, Rue, Lanie and Melody; and her siblings, Sherrille M. Ward (Oneil) of Manning, Iva Jane M. Ham (Jimmy) of Manning, Deborah M. Vinson (Wayne) of Manning, Beth M. Coker (Ronald) of Turbeville, Wiley Gerald McElveen (JoAnn) of Turbeville, W. A. "Bill" McElveen (Terry) of Lincoln University, PA and Donald McElveen (Linda) of New Zion. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
