He is survived by: his spouse Roselle Morton Chiles; his children, Vanessa Renna Jamison of Portland and Bobby James Chiles, Jr. of Columbia, SC.; his grandson Keith Jamison of Atlanta, Georgia.; his brothers, Johnny Robinson (Ruth Bell Chiles) and Elijah Chiles (Isabelle Chiles) of New Brunswick; and his siblings-in-law, Carrie Simpkins, Geraldine Miller (Moses Miller), Minister Shirley Johnson, Rev. Alice Gaskin (Anthony L. Gaskin), Milledge Morton (Barbara Morton), Wilbert Morton (Stephanie Morton) of Greenwood, SC and Charles F. Morton (Mary Morton) of Portland, Oregon.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
