She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Tapley Scarce and Eunice McCormick Scarce; her husband James Reece Embry; her sister Estelle Hulin; and her stepmother Dorothy Scarce.
She is survived by: her daughter Kathy "Katrine" Brooks; her son-in-law Reverend Jim Brooks of Birmingham, AL; and her stepsisters, Peggy Cox of Greenville, Betty Barnett (Wheeler) of Easley and Dotty Poore of Huntingdon, PA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
