He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Oates and Althea Oates; his significant other Dorothy Elizabeth Oates; and his wife Mima Dupin Oates. He is survived by: his children, Janet Oates Jones (John), Danny Oates (Bobbie) and Terri Oates Louviere (Bobby); his stepdaughters, Linda Goss (Danny), Jeri Dupin and Liz McManus (Scott); his sisters-in-law, Ava Oates and Carol Oates; and his pet Boy Boots. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
