He was predeceased by: his parent Joe Oates; and his siblings, Lib Dority and Joe Oates. He is survived by: his parent Martha Oates; his children, Jackie Jackson, Cindy Watson (Sam), Teresa Duffee (Mark), Darrell Poston (Judy), Billy Oates (Wendy), Kim McDougal and Pat Cummins; and his siblings, Emmaline Matthews, Randolph Oates (Terry), Larry Oates (Eve), Betty Barnes and Violet Filyaw (Olen). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
