He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Freddie Hewitt and Hallie Turner Hewitt; his wife Carol Koon Hewitt; his siblings, Charlie F. Hewitt and Hallie Kay Hewitt; and his son-in-law John Rae Love.
He is survived by: his children, Gina Hewitt Love of Florence and Reuben E. Hewitt, Jr. (Kathy) of Effingham; and his grandchildren, Cassy N. Hewitt, Tindall G. Hutchinson, Lucas James Reuben Hewitt and Lilly Bennett Hewitt.
