He was predeceased by: his parents, Eustace Eddie and Irene Floyd Pigate; his daughter Jacquelyn Donnelle Pigate Wooten; his son-in-law Eddie Joe Ardis; and his siblings, Dallas L. Pigate, Norwood O. Pigate, Emma Leah P. Buddin, Mildred Lucille P. Morris and Marjorie P Hicks-Drawdy.
He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Janice "Jan" Copeland Pigate; his children, Celia Ann Ardis, James Donald Pigate, Jr. (Winnie) and John Ronald Pigate; and his stepchildren, Dr. John R. Prentice, Jr. (Joanie), Frank Lloyd Prentice and Janice R. Raines. He is also survived by four grandchildren, two great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson and four step-grandchildren.
