She was predeceased by: her parents, Hebert Benjamin and Eulee Kirby Smith; her spouse Thomas H. Duke, Sr.; her son Herbert Arnold Duke; and her siblings, Rounette Belue, Adele Prosser, Reynolds Smith, Danny H. and H. B. Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Thomas Harold Duke and Brenda Joyce Darnell; her siblings, Airail Smith (Cheryl), Janie Lou Knight, Brooks Jackson, Nita Mae Yarborough (Burnette) and Linda Williamson; and her grandson Alan Sharpe. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
