He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Swainey and Noah Swainey; and his sisters, Christine Osborne and Peggy Combs. He is survived by: his wife Hilda Scott Swainey; his son Tony (Janeece) of Clover, SC; his grandchildren, Anthony (Nicole) of Tega Cay, SC and Kristin (Tobias Hampson) of Raleigh, NC.; his great grandchildren, Hannah, Addie, Trey Swainey, Evie, Josephine and Julia Hampson; and his siblings, Ann Williams of Durham and Walter (Jean) of Hillsborough.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
