He was predeceased by: his wife Darlene Wynn Fowler; and his parents, James Edward and Bernice Howard Fowler. He is survived by: his sons, Jeffrey Fowler of Landrum and Jeremy Fowler (Amanda Robertson) of Landrum. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
