It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charmian Smith (Taylors, South Carolina), born in Waterloo, Iowa, who passed away on August 24, 2019, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Reginald Joseph Tompkins and Mabel Ettinger Tompkins; her husband Robert Wesley Smith; her brother John Ettinger Tompkins; and her sister-in-law Ruth Boyd Tompkins.
She is survived by: her son Mark Brampton Smith; her daughter-in-law Catherine Arnott Smith; her grandchildren, Evelyn and Simon; her nephew Charles Tompkins (Karen Eshelman); her niece Nancy Christie (Iven Lourie); and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Shayna Christie, Vivian Tompkins, Gregory and Kevin Tompkins.
