He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Simpson and Irene Simpson; his wife Imogene Simpson; his son Anthony Scott Simpson; and his siblings, Archie Simpson and Renĕe Faulkenberry.
He is survived by: his daughter Kimberly Simpson Gault (Jamie); his grandchildren, Miranda Boone, Kayla Pearson, Allie Patterson and Kristen Parker; his niece Donna; his nephew Roger Pool; his sisters, Patsy White (Ron) of Iowa, Susan Bates (David) of Gray Court, Wanda Thompson (Bobby) of Greenville and Elizabeth "Betty" Simpson of Atlanta; and the mother of his children Carolyn Simpson. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
