She was predeceased by: her parents, Norma Runelle Hill Chavis and James Harvey Chavis; her daughter Michelle Lee Sturkie; and her siblings, Jimmy Chavis, Russell Chavis and Donna Lynn Chavis.
She is survived by: her husband Jewel "Bubba" Harold Sturkie; her children, Mary Sue Peele (James) and Jewell DeLaine Buff (Kenny); her grandchildren, Lorene Peele (Brandon Little), Leila Rankin, James "Bud" Peele (Jessica), Danni Still (Morgan), Tyler Hill (Melissa), Madison Bryant and Katie Ann Roberts; her great grandchildren, Connley Peele, Khloe Stroud, Allison Stroud, Emberleigh Little, Nora Rankin, Lilly Rankin and Waylon Still; her brother Mark Chavis (Camilla); her in-laws, Deirdre Chavis, Mike Sturkie, Timmy Sturkie and Connie Elrod (Gene); and her close friends, Shirley Sturkie and Cathy Wright.
