He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Smith and Ann Marie Wallace Smith; and his siblings, Jerome, Gene and Mary Ann.

He is survived by: his wife Veronica Harkins Smith (Ronny) of Surfside Beach, SC; his daughters, Nancy Angley (David) and Judy Angela Smith; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Phillips (Christopher), Erin Boyle (Kieran) and Kevin Angley; his brother Donald Smith; his brother-in-law Walter Harkins; and his friend Bills. He is also survived by several loving nephews and nieces.
