He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eugene J. Hardig and Rosemary Hardig (Higgins); his son Stephen E. Hardig; his sister Rosemary Shafer; his wife Mardeline "Babe"; his children, Sandi H. Horne of Chadds Ford, PA, Robert E. Hardig (Nancy) of Lisle, IL and Patrick M. Hardig (Lisa) of Statesville, NC; his grandchildren, Heather Gornick (Samuel), Michael R. Hardig, Elizabeth A. DeGraff (Daniel) and Stephanie M. Mixson (James); his great grandchildren, Avery A. Gornick and Emmalynn M. Gornick; and his brothers, James E. Hardig of South Bend and Edward W. Hardig (Joan) of South Bend.
