He was predeceased by: his parents, Purvis Cato and Minnie Douglas Cato; his son Allen Cato; and his siblings, Harold, Marshall, Albert Cato and Elizabeth Bedenbaugh.
He is survived by: his spouse Carolyn Farr Cato; his daughter Sherry Oglesby (Tommy); his stepdaughters, Linda Stephens (Richard) of Newnan, GA and Sandy Boehne; his sons, Wendall Cato (Tina) of Corydon, IN, Ronnie Cato (Terry) and Ronald Cato (Carry); and his stepson Charles Boehne Aiken.
