He is survived by: his children, Heather Newman Adkins (Jessie) of Sumter and Karl Newman, Jr. (Katie) of Sumter; his grandchildren, J. J. Adkins, Hayden Adkins, Jordan Adkins, Hayeslee Adkins, D. J. Adkins, McKenzie Newman and Evie Newman; his sisters, Nancy Newman Buenting (John) of Charleston and Beth Newman of Sumter; and his daughter Wendemere Dr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
