He was predeceased by: his parents, John Baxter and Pattie Baxter of Sumter, S. C.. He is survived by: his wife Julia Carter Baxter; his children, Mary Rebecca Baxter, John Richard Baxter, III and Sarah Elizabeth Cain (Jonathon); his grandson Shepherd James Cain; his sister Anne Baxter; his aunt Elizabeth Taylor; and his brother-in-law Fletcher Carter (Linda). He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Memorial Park Riverside Chapel (989 Riverside Dr, Gainesville, GA 30501). A memorial service was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Westminster Presbyterian Church (1397 Thompson Bridge Rd, Gainesville, GA 30501).
